Marine Day Summer Events 2025

The summer sky is now dazzling, how are you all doing?

Indigo is a traditional color that has been loved and passed down by Japanese people since ancient times.
Another name for indigo is "brown" and it is also written as "victory color."
During the Kamakura period, it was a favored and customary color for samurai to wear as it was considered an auspicious color.

It was during the Edo period that indigo dyeing became popular among the common people.
As cotton, which is easy to dye with indigo, became popular,
Clothing and other fabrics are dyed with indigo, and it has become a part of everyday life.
It has come to add color to the lives of Japanese people and become familiar to them.

During the Meiji period, a British scientist who witnessed the scene described it as "Japan Blue."
Indigo became known overseas as a Japanese landscape.

As time passed, cheaper dyes such as synthetic dyes began to be used,
Traditional indigo dyeing is gradually declining.

However, it is still produced using traditional techniques that require a lot of time and effort.
The unique Japanese indigo color is protected by the hands of artisans,
It remains a special color for Japan to this day, as it is even used in the official emblem of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

This year we have a limited number of Fil Melange products available, all beautifully dyed by indigo dye artisan LITMUS.

A new model T-shirt made from the classic jersey fabric that is Fil Melange's signature material, and a cotton linen fleece sweatshirt with the comfortable, crisp feel that is unique to linen.
In addition, a thermal material blouson knitted with a honeycomb pattern,
A thin and light fleece cardigan with a lustrous and elegant look, a hat made of brushed denim material with a napped texture made by recycling unused fabric,
The lineup includes new products, including bags, all of which are being released for the first time using indigo dye.

In response to popular demand, we will also be holding a limited-edition dyeing order event for the first time in three years.
This is the first time in a while that we have had such a special offer, with two long-sleeved T-shirts with a basic design made from standard materials, and three sweatshirts with a vintage look that you can dye in your favorite color.

On the first day of the event, we will be welcoming indigo dyeing artisan Yoshikawa from LITMUS.
Please enjoy your own special indigo dyeing while consulting with us about the dye color.
